Sunday January 29 Beyond the Boundaries
HEALING SERVICE with laying on of hands, anointing and healing prayers. Join us!

Last Chance Order your SOUPER BOWL subs!!! Souper Bowl of Caring: Sunday Feb. 5th, our youth group will again be joining over 14,000 groups to help the hungry. Last year 260,000 youth collected $9.5 million for hunger relief. This year, the need is even greater. The US Census Bureau reports the number of Americans living in poverty is the highest it has been in 52 years. One in seven households in our nation is food insecure, affecting more than 16 million children. As millions gather in front of television sets to watch the SuperBowl Championship game, with friends and lots of food, our youth will again be collecting money and canned foods for people who do not have enough to eat. In addition we’ll be selling sub sandwiches. All donations will go to our local food pantry/soup kitchen. Whole Subs $7, 1/2 subs $4, your choice of the classic #2 (ham, capicola & cheese), or turkey. Pick up your subs Sunday 2/5 following coffee hour about 11:30am in Wesley Hall. DEADLINE Monday January 30th. Call the church office to place your order.

Speaking of food to feed the hungry, our food pantry needs: soup, rice, canned meats, canned fruits, beans, tomato sauce/paste, cereal, snacks, potatoes and paper bags. Drop off as you enter worship, or in the church office.

Sermon Series January-February – “Bread Bath & Beyond”
Thanks to worship leader Marcia McFee, for suggesting this connecting theme for sermons on Sundays in January and February. On January 1 we shared the “Bread” – communion, the bread of God’s love in Christ that sustains us. On January 8 we shared the “Bath” – in remembering our baptism we are each reminded that we are God’s beloved child. Now for the “Beyond” – seeing Communion and Baptism as the starting points for life “beyond our limitations,” we’ll be looking at how 2012 can be “a year of amazing transformation, for our lives, for our community, for the world!” Be there! Or if you are away, check our blog (www.springlakeumc.blogspot.com) for posted sermons.

Recognition of elected church officers January 22
All you faithful servants who serve on or lead any committee of the church, please be here in worship on January 22 to be recognized (don’t worry, we’ll just ask you to stand in place, and not say anything!). We’ll have a short litany of thanks and commissioning of your ministry. If you serve on a committee, please be here!
