“Sing a New Song” – District Resource Day Thursday March 22, 2012 morning and evening offerings – this is one of the four days a year our “Shared Ministry” money comes back to us to equip and empower the church in our ministry. Join Pastor Francie at “Singing New Hymns for God and Neighbor” with Rev. Carolyn Winfrey Gillette, at St. John’s UMC, 2000 Florence Ave., Hazlet NJ. Daytime: We’ll gather at 8:30 AM; worship at 9 followed by presentation until 1 PM. Breakfast goodies, light lunch, beverages will be served. Evening: 7 PM to 9 PM with refreshments. Please let Pastor Francie know asap if you’d like to go.
We hear the words “Creative Worship” and we wonder… If we try something new, will our worship become gimmicky? How can we hold the attention of children without losing the attention of more “traditional” and “intellectual” adults? What are some ways we can involve more of our pew-sitting church members in worship leadership, even in small ways? How can we use all of our senses in worship? And what about hymns? Why do we sing in worship? How can we find a balance between traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs? What are some hymns that blend the traditional and the contemporary? Join us for a day of sharing creative worship ideas and singing new hymns for God and neighbor. More information at http://www.gnjumc.org/events/detail/62.
